Designing OPAC Interfaces for Purwadhika Library
Purwadhika Library Cover - Design Concepts

INTRODUCTION

This case study will explore the Design process to develop the Purwadhika Library, a Digital Library (OPAC) for Purwadhika College. A comprehensive repository platform that serves the entire campus community, facilitating book lending, providing insights into the latest book offerings, and more.

I aim to highlight the importance of universities aiming for international campus standards to establish their own comprehensive library repository. This repository should embody exceptional usability and a visually engaging interface, empowering the university community to evolve and thrive towards.

PROBLEMS IN A GLANCE

The PINTAR BI website was launched by the Indonesian government in 2020, but it remains relatively unknown to the public. I conducted an in-depth analysis to understand why.

To exchange currency, users must first book a session on the PINTAR website before visiting the Bank Indonesia headquarters. However, the website has low traffic and a high bounce rate. I believe this issue stems from a poorly designed and non-responsive user interface.

Research Process

I will explain my design process and thought process. Because this is a bootcamp project, the PRD isn’t based on a real business problem and may have been generated by ChatGPT.

I followed the Design Thinking process, starting with research as the very first step.

Gather related data from user feedback, through questionnaire and Usability Test.

Exploring Ideas to Tackle the Problems

During the interview conducted via Google Meet, I noticed several struggles that users experienced when performing certain actions, such as registering an account, searching for products, and making payments. These issues became the pain points to address in the next phase.

These key findings expose the problems, why it happens, and help me crafting the possible solutions
